With the launch of Space Force in 2019, there is strong interest in building networking in space with constellation of satellites and other assets. There will be many sensors observing any unusual phenomena, possible collision with space debris, and any hostile activity signals. Efficient network protocols for routing and congestion control in such space networks will be important for ensuring message delivery within accepted latency requirements of critical applications. With various sensor data collected computations need to be performed at edges as response time can be large by downloading and computing on servers. Coordinated distributed computing is needed among computing units in space and ground servers to ensure critical and timely responses. These applications will use AI/ML techniques with decisions on what to compute on the edge onboard computers in space for fast response.
